Hot Shield Masks are designed by firefighters specifically for wildland firefighting. There are different models because firefighters want choices. Every mask is constructed with CarbonX brand fabrics. All of our masks are designed to provide extreme heat and flame protection. Reflective trim is added on either side of mask for nighttime visibility. CarbonX fabrics used in Hot Shield masks are third-party tested to achieve an astonishing RPP rating of 11 cal/cm2 and a TPP rating of 10 cal/cm2 (single layer). Some models require no filter, others a low-level particulate filter. Our most popular model is the Hot Shield HS-2 and our newest model is the HS-4, specifically made to fit only the Sundstrom SR-100 half face respirator.
